Malaysia Church Camp 2013

I am really excited.

I'm going for a bi-annual Church Camp retreat this coming Monday! 4 days 3 nights at Johor.
when people hear that I'm going for a church camp, the first thing that came to their mind was an image like this...

a vast jungle
sleeping in tentage
lots of mosquitoes

Well, the church camp that I'll be going to is a relaxing and 'luxurious' one! And my whole family is going. The hotel has a gym, sauna, swimming pool etc. We get to listen to sermons there, sing songs to worship God and also play games together. The food is going to be great too.

Promise i'll do a detailed sharing with lotsa photos when i'm back. Pls poke me and remind me not to be lazy :P

Why my internet so lag??

Why would you do if your mobile phone can't load any websites at all while you are on the go?

*Click...
Waits for a while.
Waits for 10s.
Waits for 30s.
Ignores it *
Check back.
It still doesn't load... -_-

Check "Enable 3G", Yes, enabled.

yes, i'm still running on 3G not 4G yet, but still... it should load right?
I was living without internet on the go for a couple of days until I found the REASON why. You need to know this. If you're facing the same problem as me...

So I just conducted a random speed test and found that my download speed and upload speed is like 0.00Mbps?! How can this be possible? No wonder I can't load any websites at all...

Then I changed a particular setting... and tried the speedtest again. Tada! Look! There's at least some download speed now! Not fantastic, but at least my websites are loading now. Feeling puzzled? Want to know the KEY? ahaha

The key lies in changing the setting for "Enable LTE". The weird thing is, when I enable LTE on my 3G phone, it can't load any websites at all. ZERO download speed. Isn't LTE supposed to make your websites load faster? Though I'm not using an LTE enabled phone, isn't it an irony that the speed is slower when you enable LTE? Actually there's no speed to talk about at all since it's ZERO. hmmm..

So, I did the same experiment on my friends' Samsung Galaxy S4 with LTE running on 3G network. Differing results obtained.

With "Enable LTE", the speed is faster than without "Enable LTE". Such a mystery... If you could explain why this is happening, please enlighten us!

Speed for thought today

Fruitful Work

Sitting outside forever 21 now waiting for dale. In times like this, I wished I brought a book. Since I didn't, let me think about life... Lol

As I am about to start work soon, I ponder about the meaning of work. What is work? Labour? Can work be anything interesting or fruitful?

I thought.

The sales assistant at forever 21 is doing her work. She is assisting customers in their purchases. The customers at forever 21 are technically not doing work. They are shopping. Recalling the book, following Jesus in the real world, work is essentially serving others. Whatever work you do, the common thing is it benefits others. It serves society. And in return, u earn your living. As the book says, ppl often work to live. Few live to work. Work can be fruitful. In the idealistic world, work is about fulfilling your passion. One derives personal satisfaction from work as one puts his abilities to good use. However, things are not as simple as such now. Work is not only passion. It may not even reach the level to be considered passion. Work can be a source of societal pressure from the status it seemingly confers upon individuals.

One of my church friend recently shared a link on a sermon about work. In it, it says that as long as we don't follow the spiritual principle of work, 2 things will happen. We either treat work as too important and then we burn out, OR we treat work as too unimportant and be cynical. And in it, it further mentions that, only when we follow God's principle of work, could we then find rest in working. I gathered my thoughts subsequently. Working for God should mean during work time I work hard at work. But during rest time, I enjoy my rest.

Food for thought.

A sustained journey

Realized it's been pretty long since I last blogged. hmm.. is blogging a sustained journey for me? Should I continue blogging regularly. Am i providing value to others through my blog posts. In the initial stages, the very reason I started this blog is to share. I believe good things should be shared. Happiness is contagious! So... hope whatever I've been sharing, my thoughts, updates, can bring some entertainment and advice to your daily lives.

Started work for about 3 months now. It's been a great learning experience and still adapting. Having an activation at Cine this weekend. Check it o

Church wise, i'm starting to learn flower arrangements! haha. This is sth I really look forward to. Will be going for my first session later. And hopefully there's sth nice for me to show and post up on my blog later.

As for my polymer clay work, i've created a few new designs. BUT, hasn't yet to take the product shoot photos. Hope they all come in soon :)

Short update. Ta daa!

The First of Us All

Last saturday, I attended the first wedding of a friend. How time flies. The period of talk about graduation, finding a job, graduation trips and also weddings (for some early ones). It's indeed heart warming to see a friend getting married. And it's the first. Not those from the older generation but finally one amongst us.

They were both Christians and it was held as a church wedding. As usual, the girls were late except jx. haha the one always on time. We almost missed the grand entrance of the bride! that's really terrible. Running in heels were horrible too. Ended up home with 3 holes on my feet :x.

Here's the lovely picture with the couple!

And of course, I'm finally back from my 3 weeks grad trip. There were lots of thoughts and inspirations. I will leave it till the photos are ready. It has dawned upon me that I am entering the next stage of my life. Stepping into the workforce. Feelings of excitement mixed with reluctance to leave the schooling years. The commencement will put everything to a beautiful end. For now, looking "forward" to the release of NUS results tmr. Al l the best friends!

It's OVER!

One year. 12 months. Weeks of hard work and determination. It's officially OVER!

Today's thesis presentation went very well. Thank God for His mercy and grace. I was worrying over it the past few days. In a blink of an eye. It was all over.

It's ironic that I spent days worrying but only 1 day to rejoice. Many a times, I worry for nothing. But when it's over, I don't really reflect and learn from it. This time, I will.

What is Faith? I asked my mother yesterday. "If only we humans can stop worrying. Wouldn't everything be smooth sailing?" Not in the sense that there's no challenges in life, but that we would be able to overcome all challenges and not worry unduly about them. I learnt that, escaping is not a solution. Embrace it. Imagine yourself overcoming it and you will feel less afraid. I like to think of it in relation to time. Since time pass so fast, it doesn't make sense to worry so much about it and make your time bitter. Treat every single day equally. Don't let the worry for any day spoil the other days. I know it's hard. But I'll try. :) Worries never end unless I dismiss them as worries.

A really long break.

It's been really long since I blogged. Apologies. Looking at this blog gives me a sense of achievement as I reminisce about how I was so excited about designing and creating a blog to provide entertainment, fun and useful information to others at the very beginning.

How time flies. As I grow older, I begin to appreciate and understand when elders give the passing phrase "you children have all grown up". When I was in my teens, I couldn't really understand this concept of growing older. It didn't really hit upon me that I would eventually become an old granny one day. Elders often say this "it's good to be young. Youth is the best present." I would only smile and nod in agreement, BUT not really understanding and feeling the impact of its deeper meanings. Now that I have aged slightly since then, I think I get it. Especially now that I am soon entering a new stage of my life.

I've always wondered where did the Year 4s disappear to after leaving school. I know they have gone to their respective workplace, but it just seemed as though they all vanished instantly. I no longer spot them around in school. Very soon, it's my turn. I'm going to perform a disappearing act! haha.

Life's a process that you can't turn back. I remember I read somewhere that all things come to an end. No matter which part of your life you are at now, remember to treasure it. That stage will pass. When that happens, look forward to the better future. :)
